If you are the user is reporting a file which that already exists in another repository, such as CGSPACE and or MELSpace, you will be able to harvest the Metadata by adding the link and clicking on “Harvest Link”.
If the harvested file already exists in MEL a notification message will appear.
If the harvested file does not exist in MEL, as per the example presented here below, which is a limited access journal article.
The “Edit details” section will open with already some filled data such as: Report file type (1), Title (2), Reporting CRP (3), Keyword(s) (4), URL (5); Language(s) (6), Research Country (ies)(7), and Copyright (8). Asking the user to complete the missing information.
Note that the system will direct you to “Edit details” instead of “Edit” only when harvesting links.
the suggested action is to add the handle link and click on the “Add Link” button to easily harvest the available metadata from the repository.
Below are some examples:
- Handle link from CGSpace, for example: https://hdl.handle.net/10568/114077
- DOI link, for example: https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0209632
- The URL link of the file, for example: https://www.agropolis.org/publications/agroecology.php
If a handle or a DOI are added, the available information in the repositories or database (e.g., title, reporting CRP, keyword(s), URL, language(s), research country (ies), and copyright) will be automatically extracted and appear in the second step of the deliverable reporting. The user will have then to complete the missing information in order to save and/or submit the record.
